सारांश मानव भाषा रचनात्मकता का एक जीता-जागता प्रतिबिम्ब है। भाषा में उपलब्ध भाषाई उपकरणों का प्रयोग रचनात्मकता को प्रदर्शित करने तथा मितव्ययिता एवं सुसंगति के सिद्धांत (Principle of economy and consistency) के अनुसार अपने संदेश को कम से कम प्रयत्न से प्रेषित करने के लिए किया जाता है। कालांतर में यही भाषिक परिवर्तन का कारण भी बनते हैं। भाषिक परिवर्तन भाषा विकास की प्रक्रिया का एक सामान्य हिस्सा है, परंतु दुविधा की स्थिति तब उत्पन्न हो जाती है जब सामाजिक-राजनीतिक उद्देश्यों की पूर्ति हेतु प्रेयोक्ति जैसे भाषाई उपकरणों का प्रयोग सदियों से चले आ रही जनमानस से जुड़ी अवधारणाओं को ताक पर रख कर किया जाता है, जिनसे दिग्भ्रमित करने वाले भाषिक परिवर्तन होते हैं। भक्त शब्द के हालिया अर्थादेश को मूल में रखते हुए ये शोधपत्र तुलनात्मक अध्ययन के लिए उसका एक ऐतिहासिक विवरण प्रस्तुत करता है, तथा प्रेयोक्तियों के प्रयोग से जुड़ी नैतिक ज़िम्मेदारी जैसे समसामयिक बिंदुओं पर प्रकाश डालता है।

Abstract Perception plays a significant role in our day to day life. Indian philosophical schools have given different accounts of perception. Based on the different types of perceptions the process of perception also varies from school to school. In spite of spiritual motive and liberation being the key objective behind perception theories, the detail given is quite technical and scientific. Ocular perception, being the primary and the most used perception is given the utmost importance. The process of ocular perception is described with an exhaustive technical account in various schools under Indian Philosophical tradition. This paper is an attempt to provide an account of ocular perception in Indian philosophical tradition along with its comparative study with the modern science.
